On September 22nd, our lives changed when we suffered the loss of our mantle male, Brutus.  Brutus was 7 1/2 years old, and was the BEST dane we have ever owned.  He started our breeding program out 4 years ago, and what beautiful puppies he has had!  After much discussion with my husband we decided to have Brutus neutered since he was retired.  Although Brutus was retired he still wanted to be with the girls, and just recently tore his toenail off trying to get with them.  We took him to the vet on Tuesday to make sure his toenail was okay, and they were going to neuter him on Friday.  Wednesday afternoon I went by to see him and we played for a long time in the back of the clinic, he was so excited to see me!  On Friday afternoon I called to check on him and the vet said he was doing great and the surgery went great.  On Saturday morning, I received a call at 7:30 am, saying that sometime during the night he passed away.  I have never been so devastated!  Brutus touched everyones heart when they met him.  He has been to daycares, schools, pet shows and was the showiest dog in dog obedience class.  I will never forget him, and I know many of you won't either.
